1. Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing bsatroop797.com (the “Site”), creating an account, submitting an application or making a payment, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site. You must be at least 18 years old and the parent or legal guardian of any Scout you register.
2. About BSA Troop 797
BSA Troop 797 is a volunteer-led Scouting unit of the Shia Imami Ismaili Boy Scouts in Sugar Land, Texas, chartered with Scouting America and part of the SHAC Arrowhead District. The Site is provided to share troop information and to manage registrations, applications, camps and payments. Scouting America, the local council and the chartered organization are separate entities and are not responsible for the content of this Site.
3. Accounts and Accurate Information
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
- You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information, including health and emergency contact details, and to update it when it changes.
- We may suspend or close accounts that contain false information, are used improperly or put Scouts or volunteers at risk.
- To provide technical support, authorized troop administrators may view the portal as you see it. This access is recorded in an audit log and never reveals your password or payment card details.
4. Assumption of Risk and Release of Liability
Scouting activities, including meetings, campouts, hikes, aquatics, high-adventure trips, service projects and related travel, involve inherent risks such as physical injury, illness, property loss or damage and, in rare cases, death. Participation is voluntary. By registering a Scout you acknowledge these risks and accept them on behalf of yourself and the Scout.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release, agree to indemnify and hold harmless BSA Troop 797, the Shia Imami Ismaili Boy Scouts, the Shia Imami Ismaili Council for the United States of America and its regional and local councils, boards and portfolios, and their leaders, volunteers, officers, members, employees and agents from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs and expenses arising out of or connected with participation in troop activities or use of this Site. The signed Consent & Release in your application forms part of these terms and controls if there is any conflict.
5. Health, Safety and Medical Treatment
You are responsible for submitting complete and accurate health forms and for disclosing any medical condition, allergy or medication relevant to your Scout. By registering, you authorize troop leaders to seek emergency medical treatment for your Scout when you cannot be reached, and you accept responsibility for the cost of that treatment. Leaders are volunteers and are not medical professionals.
6. Photos, Video and Media Consent
Troop activities may be photographed or recorded. Unless you notify us in writing that you withhold consent, you grant BSA Troop 797 a royalty-free, non-exclusive permission to use photos and video of you and your Scout in troop communications, this Site, newsletters and social media, without compensation. We do not publish a Scout’s full name together with a photo or any contact details. To withdraw consent or request removal of an image, contact us at info@bsatroop797.com; removal applies going forward and may not reach copies already shared by others.
7. Fees, Payments and Refunds
- Registration, camp and activity fees are shown before payment and may change from year to year.
- Card payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. The troop does not store full card numbers.
- Fees cover commitments made on behalf of your Scout (such as council registration, camp deposits and supplies) and are generally non-refundable once those commitments are made. Refund requests are reviewed case by case by troop leadership.
- Fees paid to Scouting America or the council are subject to their own refund policies.
8. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the Site, including by attempting unauthorized access, uploading harmful code, collecting other members’ information, posting unlawful or offensive content, or using the Site in a way that conflicts with Scouting America’s Youth Protection policies.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Site links to external services such as my.scouting.org, Scoutbook, the council website and the Scout Shop. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

The Site and all content, calendars, forms and resources are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Event dates, times and requirements may change; always confirm details with troop leadership. Merit badge and advancement information is provided for convenience and the official Scouting America requirements always prevail.
11. Limitation of Liability

Our total liability for any claim relating to the Site will not exceed the fees you paid through the Site in the twelve months before the claim.
12. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law
Any controversy or claim arising out of or relating to BSA Troop 797, the Site or these terms will first be submitted for mediation before the Ismaili Conciliation and Arbitration Board, consistent with the Consent & Release. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
